We had an excellent convention - our collegiate representatives Andrea Endres and Emma Wahlberg joined Growth Advisor Leona Parent Grzymkowski in Portsmouth, VA for the 45 national convention of Alpha Sigma Tau.
As part of the convention programming, browsed the sorority history in the “125 Years of AST” historical display, enjoyed a lovely dinner cruise where we ate dinner with past national president Patricia Simmons (2002-2008), attended the General Sessions and got up to date on national sorority business - including voting on changes to national bylaws and incoming national officers.
We also met up with other Beta Xi alum - Lisamarie Fredericks, Christianne Yentz, Tammy Bonnifield, and Lauren Warren (pictured above with Leona, Andrea, and Emma). Other exciting activities including shopping the silent auction, Emerald Boutique, getting our 125 year dangles installed on our badge and guard, and spending time sisters, Beta Xi and otherwise. We even got to catch up with our Educational Consultant, Gabby!
On the last day, we attended educational breakout sessions on topics ranging from growth to membership development to etiquette and everything in between. We also attending the Yellow Rose Banquet, where we enjoyed a formal dinner and celebration of national award winners.
Overall, we enjoyed our time at convention and are looking forward to coming back to the fall semester with a reignited sense of purpose and sisterhood to share with collegiate members and new sisters.
The next Alpha Sigma Tau national convention is June 11-14, 2026 and will be hosted in Minneapolis, MN.
To start off the semester the actives identified impactful projects for improvement, keeping our home looking as beautiful as ever! Some of these projects included:
fresher, brighter paint for the living room and chapter room
repainting all the first floor ceilings
refinishing and painting all the wood outside
repairing and replacing pieces of the deck
cleaning up the front and back yards (staying conscious of native species)
planting flowers in the front yard
This Winter Carnival was challenging from start to finish - with extremely low snowfall and warm temperatures, there were concerns with getting enough snow to build! Check out the photo above - lots of grass visible in there… Despite the conditions, our resourceful sisters were able to pull it off and bring home another AST victory.
The chapter ranked 1st in the women’s monthlong division and 3rd in the overall monthlong competition.
Our sisters also took home 1st place in the special events category AND had a candidate for the Winter Carnival Royalty competition - sister Ava Farquhar!

Our volunteers put in over 475 hours of WORK at the house! That doesn’t include the work of planning, coordinating, or figuring out what type of fishbowl to order at the Ambassador.
A big thank you to everyone who was able to attend the Mortgage Payoff Celebration that was held September 2-5, 2022 in Houghton.
Please enjoy some photos from the celebration!
At Convention in June, Beta Xi was the recipient of 3 awards. Lauren Bendes Warren reported that only 31 chapters received awards and only a handful received three awards. This is quite the accomplishment ladies. The awards were: Academic Excellence Award, Financial Excellence Award and Health and Safety Excellence Award
Sisters represented Beta Xi beautifully at the 44th National Convention of Alpha Sigma Tau. The Convention was held in Tampa, FL from June 23 – 26, 2022.
